If you’ve ever wondered about the story behind this blog, it actually begins long before my current role at Oracle—back in my days at Swiss Mobiliar. There, our database team launched an internal blog to document our experiences, technical challenges, and lessons learned. Collaborating with my teammates, we created a community that attracted more than 5,000 visits per day—until, inevitably, change came. As most of the original members moved on and new faces joined, the decision was made to close the blog. Unfortunately, without our stewardship, a wealth of useful information was lost to the tides of time.
The last post I wrote on the Mobiliar blog was titled “So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish”—a nod to Douglas Adams and, fittingly, a moment of goodbye.
But goodbyes are often just the start of a new journey. I realized that sharing lessons, not just internally, but also with a wider audience—especially those navigating the many questions and surprises of the “customer journey”—was too valuable to stop. With my move to Oracle and my new vantage point, I found myself at a unique intersection: understanding both sides of the bridge, from the customer’s seat to the tech partner’s role.
This blog picks up where I left off, but it turns the lens outward—to you, our customers, partners, and fellow explorers. Together, we’ll explore stories from the field, tackle questions that don’t have a “42” answer, and learn from each other along the way. Because knowledge lost is opportunity lost—and this journey is meant to be shared.
